The quest to conquer humans started long ago. All historians and even non historians here would agree.
So, first came War — Colonization — Independence/Globalization and then Industrial Revolution.
In the War/ Civil war millions were conquered by losing their physical body, then colonization happened, which was just full or partial control over another country under the guise of education, curriculum, and teaching. Here, millions of humans were conquered by slavery and economic exploitation. As humans evolved, they started integrating economy, finance, trade and communication and called it globalization which is where humanity displays her wisdom by initiating independence. Where our own govern and rule in what is pretended as our good but instead, we are just their tool. So yes, yet again humans are conquered by capitalism.
“Then came Industrial Revolution, driven by technology. Which saw the conquering of humans only this time, subtly.”
This revolution is constantly happening because of the idea of change as we get tired of doing the same thing over and over again.
Sounds, sights, feelings, patterns, are what we take in that shapes our everyday life. Now we allow the digital world mimic life’s communication but never cater for its perception.
While an average person might think they’re free from these previous eras and they’d be correct. One thing however has remained throughout these eras, we’re still bound. This time by technology and in the next era, by God knows what.
Starting with the basic need of man which should be food, clothing & shelter to internet, internet enabling device and electricity.
Let’s take you that is currently reading this post as an example. You most likely didn’t change the cloth you wore to bed thirty minutes after you woke up or thought about what to eat or food thiry minutes when you woke up. You most definitely touched a technological device — like your phone few minutes after you woke up.
Technology then didn’t just become a tool but became our lifestyle that we don’t just go online, but we live online.
It was given so much power that it even tells us like an almighty one to accept terms and conditions that we can’t alter, we either accept or decline and not use it.
We are neurologically hardwired to exist with the concept of change, we embraced it to the point where we were not aware of the other things it brings that we should sieve, but we just receive. So, we say change sucks but I tell you that technology is not just the only way forward.
The deposits of the way we embrace change and technology sometimes deprives us from staying human. We forget that it’s essential to have a culture and courage that calls out, to stay human by understanding what it takes to make sense and thrive in a world of rapid technological, demographic, and global upheaval.
Works of life even driven by technology like music, art, business and so on has life in it and everything that has life has a soul that no matter how much we make built-in, voice-controlled personal assistant through technology it cannot replace it. Everything has a soul, we think we feel — “Robots compute but people dream”.
So, we need to know that life not just work happens in technology.
So you may ask, Faith, how can I be free?
My answer would be through “Intentionality Humanity”
I dedicated my first Tedx Speech to talking about this topic. This is a post to remind us to stay human, never losing our love & light, understanding empathy and to know that “THE BEST WAY TO EMBRACE TECHNOLOGY — IS THROUGH INTENTIONAL HUMANITY”
Thank you.
